Job Summary

The Communication and Membership Assistant is responsible for support to managing CamboJA’s communications strategies and strengthening partnership with stakeholders, especially membership engagement. This role focuses on increasing CamboJA's visibility, promoting its programs and activities, and fostering a strong, engaged membership network. The position plays a key role in ensuring effective communication with members, partners, donors, and the public, while supporting CamboJA’s mission to promote independent journalism in Cambodia.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities Duties
PR and Communications
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance CamboJA’s visibility and influence.
  • Create, edit, and manage content for CamboJA’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels.
  • Produce high-quality materials, including press releases, reports, success stories, and promotional content that highlight CamboJA’s work and achievements.
  • Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all platforms.
  • Build and manage relationships with local and international partners, donors, local and international media to promote CamboJA’s work.
  • Monitor media coverage and share relevant news and updates with stakeholders.
  • Support the organization of events, workshops, and press conferences to engage journalists, members, and partners.
Membership Engagement
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, retain, and engage CamboJA members.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for members, addressing their inquiries and ensuring timely support.
  • Organize membership events, meetings, and capacity-building workshops to strengthen member networks.
  • Maintain and update the membership database and track member contributions and participation.
  • Prepare and disseminate membership updates, newsletters, and other engagement materials.
  • Collaborate with members to identify their needs and opportunities for professional growth.
Program Support
  • Coordinate with program teams in documenting and promoting project activities and impacts.
  • Coordinate with partners and donors to ensure alignment of communication efforts with project goals.
  • Contribute to fundraising initiatives
Other tasks
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in communications, membership engagement, journalism field, or similar roles, preferably in a media or nonprofit organization.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both English and Khmer.
  • Experience managing social media platforms, websites, and digital communication tools.
  • Knowledge of media landscapes and journalism-related issues in Cambodia.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with members, media partners, and stakeholders.
  • Passion for independent journalism, freedom of expression, and media development.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, anticipate challenges, and act independently when needed.
