This report employed a qualitative method. Data on harassment cases against journalists was compiled based on reported cases in various media outlets, social media posts, and public announcements from courts.

Independent media took a major blow this quarter with the arrest of award winning journalist Mech Dara, who was known for his extensive reporting on human trafficking and cyber scam compounds in Cambodia. The arrest has drawn rebuke from local and international civil society groups, media organizations, individual journalists, journalist clubs and foreign governments.
