CamboJA has joined many other CSOs in Cambodia to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of International Human Rights Day (1948-2021) on December 10. As part of the event, we acknowledge unwavering commitment and courage of Cambodian outstanding human rights defenders including two of our member journalists Uon Chhin and Yeang Sothearin, former Radio Free Asia reporters, who were imprisoned in November 2017 and charged with espionage soon after the RFA’s Phnom Penh bureau was forced to close in the lead up to 2018 national elections.
The two journalists have been left in legal limbo for over 4 years. Regardless of many struggles, the pair remains committed to public service journalism and keeps hunting for opportunities to continue their service.
