Phnom Penh, November 23, 2023- A new impacts study from CamboJA finds that journalists and active online citizens have serious concerns regarding the state of internet freedom, digital rights, and online safety in Cambodia. Government advances censorship of critical news sites in the lead-up to national elections

Phnom Penh, July 18, 2023– We, the undersigned institutions, express serious concern over the government’s decision to block critical media websites and a public database ahead of the national election as a serious violation of the people’s right to information.

Seven organizations launched pfmsea.org, a platform to monitor press freedom in Southeast Asia on Monday 29 May 2023

This monitoring platform functions to monitor and provide real-time data based on attacks and threats against journalists and media workers covering digital safety, physical safety, and legal safety, including various new regulations that limit press freedom.

Cambodia: Six Southeast Asian Journalist Organizations Collaborate to Safeguard of Press Freedom

Six organizations from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Timor Leste formed a regional collaboration as a joint response to the deteriorating press freedom climate in most countries in Southeast Asia.
